Extreme desert heat, rapid evaporation, and heavy AC use place high thermal demands on your vehicle. Choosing tropicalized, warranty-backed parts and conducting periodic 15-point battery and AC health checks prevents sudden breakdowns across Abu Dhabi.
Introduction
Brake pads wear down gradually with every stop, which means the change in performance is easy to miss day to day — until a specific sound or feeling makes it obvious something has shifted. Knowing what those signs actually mean helps you act before it becomes a bigger repair or a safety concern.
A High-Pitched Squeal When Braking
Many brake pads include a small metal wear indicator designed to make exactly this sound once the pad material has worn down to a certain point — it's an intentional early warning, not a malfunction. A consistent squeal specifically when braking (rather than an occasional squeak) is usually this indicator doing its job.
A Grinding or Metallic Sound
Grinding is a step beyond the squeal — it typically means the pad material has worn through completely, and metal is now contacting metal against the brake rotor. This is a more urgent sign, since continuing to drive in this condition can damage the rotor itself, turning a pad replacement into a larger repair.
A Soft or Spongy Brake Pedal
A pedal that feels like it needs to travel further than usual before engaging, or that feels less firm underfoot, can point to worn pads, but can also indicate air in the brake lines or a fluid issue — this symptom benefits from proper inspection rather than assuming it's pads alone.
